The SB-3000 Subwoofer might be the best subwoofer that SVS has been able to come up with. It has a very compact design, comes with an easy to control interface, and offers magnificent bass. So, when it comes to finding the perfect subwoofer, the SB-3000 might just have it all!
Building power and thunderous subwoofer aren’t about providing a higher volume level or increasing the power capacity. It is more about fine-tuning the smaller fundamentals so that it can work in all settings.
It should be compact in size so it can be easily placed anywhere and should offer enough power so it can be compatible with a home-theater system. You should be able to control the setup of the subwoofer while enabling the sound to be so detailed that viewers can have extensive experience. A fine subwoofer is also very affordable and shouldn’t need another hand to lift it.
So, as you can see, these were all the qualities that an enigmatic subwoofer possesses and we were glad to know that SB-3000 didn’t disappoint us in any of the above-mentioned domains.
Build Quality and Appearance
Creating that perfect bass means you need to put in a lot of energy and work with low frequencies which takes a lot of effort. As compared to high-frequencies, lower frequencies are known for traveling slowly through the air which is why heavy-duty equipment is required to create something so out of the box.
So, the thing that surprised us the most with regards to that was the fact of how lightweight the SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer truly is. It weighs around 54 lbs and feels nothing for a single person to lift it up and move it around the house. The size of the subwoofer is also very small so you can just easily wrap it in your arms and take it anywhere you want.
The compact and sturdy built quality of the SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer is very surprising. We have seen subwoofers big enough that nobody alone could carry them. And even for small sizes, the subwoofer has the quality of a tank. It is a sealed subwoofer that is fall-proof and is not going to disintegrate for a very long time.

Application and Controls
As much as we loved the design and build quality, what we loved, even more, was the fact that it can be controlled in two different, very easy ways.
On the rear of the sub, you will find physical controls that will allow you to set the volume, phase, and crossover points. The controls are very easy to understand and come with a series of lights that will tell you which control has been turned on. They are so simple and easy to understand that anyone will get the hang of them within the first instant.
Another feature through which you can control the subwoofer is the SVS application. You can instantly pair it to the sub and dive deeper into the controls of the subwoofer. However, you will have to study the application a little before you can indulge in more specific controls of the sub. The application is iOS and Android compatible.
Performance and Sound Quality
Now here comes the real deal. Even though we love the fact that it has a user-friendly interface and is very compact in design. But the reason behind its popularity is its great sound quality. The subwoofer features a sled amplifier that can go down to 18Hz, amplifying the sound of music and movies.
The SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer delivers 800 watts of continuous power, and if you push it a little more, the peak power can go up to 2500 watts which is amazing. The amplifier and the buffer inside the speaker can produce monstrous bass and work really well for home theater systems.
We also loved that no matter the volume, the bass never muffled nor got in the way of the sound. The overall audio production was very clear and detailed.
We also didn’t find any distortion in the volume; no matter where we placed the sub, it performed magnificently. And if we are being honest here, which we absolutely are, we have never found such good quality bass in a compact subwoofer for an economical price point ever before.
Final Thoughts,
If you happen to be someone planning on boosting the sound of the home theater system or music, you should go for SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer. The subwoofer’s design is very simple, and you’re absolutely gonna benefit from it.
The SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer delivers exceptional performance for a very reasonable price. Instead of going for a high-end subwoofer with bigger price tags, we suggest you go for this one and make your money’s worth. We honestly think that whether you have an upgraded home theater system or a simple hi-fi setup, this subwoofer enhances your sound enigmatically.
Pros
- Excellent sound quality
- Compact size and excellent design
- User-friendly interface
- Produces powerful and detailed bass
Cons
- The control application is a bit confusing

Hello Mario,
I liked your review of the SVS SB-3000, very much – straight-forward, simple, honest, informative. Well written, dude.
Before reading your SVS review I’d read your review of the Yamaha DBR10’s which I’ve been thinking of buying for a while now… or maybe one of the following:
Yamaha DBR10
EV ELX200-10P
EV Everse 8
QSC K10.2
I’m a singer-songwriter and I’m putting together a small rig for busking and the occasional small gig.
I understand I can buy an acoustic guitar amp (AER, BOSS etc.) however I’m thinking of going the single PA speaker route as I sense I’ll get better sound, plus a 10” speaker for my acoustic/electric Taylor Tz5 12 string guitar.
If you have time, I’m wondering if you have any suggestions re. the following three questions.
1 – Apart from the DBR10’s, any suggestions for a 10” speaker for busking/small gigs (power not an issue will just use battery pack if unpowered)?
2 – I know the SVS SB-3000 is a hi-fi woofer but would it work at all for busking/small gigs paired with a 8” speaker like the DBR8 or the EV Everse 8? It’s probably not worth it really, as I think the lowest string on a guitar, the E, goes down to 73Hz. So maybe the woofer would not really get to do much but I’m wanting to both fatten out the lower end of the guitar sound plus perhaps use the woofer as part of a smallish PA if I had a bass and/or keyboards player with me.
3 – Any suggestions re. an iPad mixing app similar to the EV QuickSmart app or the Yamaha ProVisionaire i.e. for acoustic guitar and vocals, busking/small gigs? I haven’t had much luck with figuring out how to set up an iPad mixer for myself w

Hey !
1 – Besides the DBR10, the QSC K10.2 is a popular choice for its clarity and reliability. Might be worth a look!
2 – The SVS SB-3000 might be overkill for busking. A good PA speaker usually covers the guitar’s range well, especially for acoustic sets.
3 – Check out the Behringer X AIR series app for iPad. It’s user-friendly and works great for small setups!
Hope that helps!
